Currently, our Dearborn Works facility is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Training Supervisor. The Dearborn Works is located on a more than 350-acre site in southeast Michigan. Its carbon steel melting, casting, hot and cold rolling, and finishing operations are capable of producing 3.6 million net tons of hot rolled, 2.1 million net tons of cold rolled, 1.1 million net tons of galvanized and galvannealed sheet each year.

The Industrial Training Supervisor at AK Steel Dearborn Works develops and conducts trainings and assessments for incoming and existing personnel with the aim of ensuring that all employees have the necessary foundations, skills, and understanding to conduct their daily job requirements safely and in compliance with all standard protocols and the UAW contract.  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all legal obligations, UAW contract, and safety regulations
  • Collaborate with management to conduct needs analysis studies to determine training needs within the organization
  • Formulate and implement necessary training to promote excellence within the workforce, perpetuate best practices, and fulfill the overall needs of the organization
  • Issue and improve standard assessments for determining the readiness of candidates
  • Create, maintain, and communicate training standards
  • Identify, draft, and submit grants and proposals to improve the opportunities afforded to our employees

Qualifications:

  • Strong maintenance background in a heavy industrial environment
  • Successful grant writing experience
  • Experience in training and personnel development
  • Excellent communication skills – comfortable working with all levels from production to executive level
  • Confident taking initiative to identify needs and maximize appropriate resources determine fulfillment solutions
  • Comfortable discussing new approaches and collaborating to establish best practices
  • Advanced demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • High school diploma or GED required; Degree preferred
