Job Description:

Our Dearborn Works facility is seeking an Environmental Coordinator.  The Dearborn Works is located on a more than 350-acre site in southeast Michigan.  Its carbon steel melting, casting, hot and cold rolling, and finishing operations are capable of producing 3.6 million net tons of hot rolled, 2.1 million net tons of cold rolled, 1.1 million net tons of galvanized and galvannealed sheet each year.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Env EMS  
    a.    Update MDI, records list, etc
    b.    Uploading procedures to QIS
    c.    Submitting RFRs, Reporting on RFRs
    d.    Training matrix, etc
    e.    Circulating procedures/forms/plans for annual review
  • Participate in 3rd party audits, eventually lead external audits
  • Participate in department internal audits, eventually lead internal audits
  • QSOPE observations
  • Safety observations of Environmental contractors
  • Attend required employee meetings
  • Assist with writing procedures, creating forms for department, eventually lead the efforts
  • Participate/lead department training
  • Work with Quality Coordinators with implementing changes/updates to EMS in the departments
  • Assist with other environmental programs (air, waste, water) and the recordkeeping 


  • High School diploma required, Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Continuous improvement, problem solving and strong communication skill set required
  • Must be able to manage several projects at a time
  • Experience in a heavy industrial or steel industry preferred
